Our Materials
The materials in which we have chosen to dress you as you drift off all have one important thing in common; their journey to you is sustainable.
We believe that we can care for both our environment and the quality of our produce; our two passions can quite easily be bedfellows without either compromising the strength of the other.

In fact, they complement one another.

It is these natural qualities that allow our pyjamas to create the perfect night’s sleep.
We work with fabrics that come with a Global Organic Textiles Standard (GOTS) certificate. This means that we know that when we source our fabric it is organic throughout the process - from harvesting and growing the raw materials and turning them into beautiful yarns which we then ethically manufacture and send to you.
A GOTS certificate shows that our fabric is environmentally and socially responsible; and so, we can proudly say that we produce luxury nightwear with a conscience.
Bamboo fabric, often termed the cashmere of plants, is a natural textile made from the pulp of bamboo grass. And guess what – it doesn’t use any pesticides to help it grow. Coupled with the crop’s rapid growth, it is considered to be one of the most sustainably cultivated plants, when produced in a closed loop process like ours.

But how does bamboo benefit you? Well, this fabric has some truly charming qualities.

It is naturally hypoallergenic, making it the perfect material for those with sensitive skin. Bamboo is one of those magical materials that keeps you warm in the winter, trapping warm air in its cross-sectional fibres, but then cools you down in the summer thanks to its breathable structure and wicking capabilities.

Bamboo also boasts an incredible antibacterial rate of 99.8%. Importantly, this feature's efficacy won't wane in the wash so the fabric will continue to reduce the presence of harmful or odorous bacteria on your skin.
Believe it or not, these gentle pyjamas will nourish, soothe and protect your skin as you sleep.
Organic cotton is a natural, renewable and biodegradable fabric. No chemicals, pesticides or fertilizers are used in the growing, harvesting or spinning of organic cotton keeping it soft and healthy for the skin. Free to grow untreated, it retains all of its great characteristics such as being comfortable and absorbent. By choosing our pyjamas, you're helping to promote traditional and innovative ways of harvesting. You're also protecting farmers by keeping them away from dangerous chemicals which have been proven to have significant consequences on their health.
Organic cotton uses 71% less water than non-organic cotton (and 80% of the water used is rainfall) and it doesn’t damage the health of the soil in which it grows. In fact, organic cotton replenishes the soil, helping to maintain its fertility and biodiversity.
Just like the bamboo, the cotton in our pyjamas washes well, and actually softens after each wash. Thanks to these two fabrics, your skin can breathe a deep sigh of relief, knowing that it's in comfortable and considerate hands.
We are so excited to welcome linen to the family of Charlotte Dunn Design. As with all of the magical materials that we work with we like to know the source and the production process of the materials and our linen has been woven to our measurements by the wonderful company, Libeco. Did you know that linen dates back to 8000BC?!
Linen has many sustainable qualities, if well cared for your linen pyjamas can last up to thirty years. As linen comes from the flax plant it is completely biodegradable and during the growing process does not require irrigation and very limited if any plant-protection products. As it comes from flax plant it also means that all parts of the plant can be used when it is grown, creating food, paper or insulation materials from the by-product. The mill that we work with is fully powered by green energy, making them a champion in terms of commitment towards our wonderful planet.
Like our wonderful organic cotton, it gets softer with every way allowing you to fall more in love with your pyjamas as time goes on. Linen is fantastic at absorbing moisture making it extremely comfortable to sleep in whilst also not holding bacteria, so you wake up feeling fresh and extremely well rested. Due to the hollow nature of the fiber it is able to thermoregulate, keeping you cosy in the winter and cool in the summer.
This strong material is also naturally moth resistant so you won’t need any of those posky moth balls rolling around your wardrobe to protect these.
